Description
The local rights programme is an affiliate of the mainstream programme of ActionAid Ghana which works to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty reduction under three major mission priorities and focus areas.
Objectives
Mission priority one
Strengthen resilient livelihoods and contribute to secure climate justice with a focus area of promoting women’s secured access and control over land and other productive resources. The outcome is to empower right holders to take control of local production to contribute to food security without or with minimal dependence on ecology. It create a sustainable source of livelihood and economic gains to the right holder.

Mission priority two
This addresses the root causes of violence against women and girls, reduce unpaid care work and promote decent work with focus area of enhancing redistribution of unpaid care work and access to decent work. The outcome is to prevent violence against women and girls, tackling it from the root including building the capacity of the victims to identify reject and report this violence. Mobilizing and building girls capacity to advocate for their rights, create awareness and demand it fulfillment from duty bearers. Structures and institution are use as alternative to advance the prevention of violence. The next focus area of promoting decent work including combatting modern slavery and illegal migration has an outcome to improve working relation among informal sector workers through promoting and protecting of employers and employee rights. Advocating for policies that support decent work and better conditions of service for all.

Mission priority three
This promotes the rights of all citizens to equitable access to good-quality, child-friendly public education that builds their confidence and self-esteem to demand transparency and accountability from duty bearers with focus area to promote gender responsive public education. This ensures facilities and structure at school, community and the country respect the right of every person in education. It advocate for the existence of violence free environment for all without any discrimination. The next focus is to Promote reproductive health rights and contribute to improve sanitation and hygiene activities, the outcome is to promote reproductive rights for all persons, building their capacity, making them conscious of their rights.
