Lamnatu Adam is an accomplished development practitioner more than 20 years of experience in gender equality, human rights, and community development. She has a strong track record in gender-responsive programming, advocacy, and leadership, working extensively to empower women, children, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. Her advocacy has contributed significantly to national conversations on gender discrimination, social inclusion, child protection, and the reintegration of women accused of witchcraft.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of Songtaba, leading major programmes and coalitions, including campaigns on child marriage prevention, gender justice, violence prevention, and women’s economic empowerment. Lamnatu has received multiple local and international recognitions, including awards from Girls Not Brides, the U.S. Embassy Ghana Gender Champion (2021), and the Ministry of Gender for her contributions to ending domestic violence. Her passion for mentoring young women has earned her the most influencial female in youth developmet from the Ghana National Youth Authority. Her most recent award by Faith to Action Network was recognized as the community guiadian for womens rights award 2025.
She holds an MSc in Local Economic Development, a BA in Integrated Development Studies, and several professional certificates in policy advocacy, project management, leadership, and peacebuilding. Lamnatu has trained diverse groups across Ghana and internationally on gender, leadership, fundraising, social norms, and community empowerment.
A respected advocate, researcher, and public speaker, she has contributed to numerous studies on gender equity, witchcraft accusations, social inclusion, and girls’ education. She also serves on several national and regional committees and networks, including NETRIGHT, the Affirmative Action Coalition, Girls Not Brides, CSO platforms, and peace and gender groups.
Lamnatu is widely recognized for her unwavering commitment to social justice, community transformation, and amplifying the voices of vulnerable populations, making her a leading voice in Ghana’s gender and social inclusion movement.
