Health is foundational to human development. Songtaba supports maternal, child and adolescent health through awareness creation, advocacy and community capacity strengthening. Our focus includes reproductive health education, menstrual health and access to safe water and sanitation.
Maternal and neonatal mortality remain a challenge. In 2019, neonatal mortality in Ghana stood at 23.1 deaths per 1,000 live births. Access to family planning remains low, with only 17.1 percent of women in Northern Region using contraception and only 10.8 percent using modern methods.
At the same time, water contamination, long distances to collect water and inadequate sanitation continue to affect households, especially women and children who bear the burden of water collection.
We empower adolescents with information on sexuality, reproductive health and menstrual hygiene.
Songtaba collaborates with communities and health systems to improve access to essential services.
We provide accurate information that helps women and young people make informed choices.
We work with communities to highlight WASH challenges and advocate for equitable access.
Through awareness campaigns, we encourage healthy behaviours and safer water practices.
A healthy population is more resilient and better equipped to participate in development.
Improving access to information, reproductive health services and safe water reduces
preventable illnesses and strengthens community wellbeing.
