Ending Violence Angainst Women and Girls in Northern Ghana

Description

This partnership seeks to support 4,000 rural women to demand their rights and have greater influence in their households and communities. It also improved the capacity of 1,000 girls’ through safe spaces mechanisms that ensure their protection and response as well as ensure that 800 rural women have more secured and sustainable access to improved incomes through productive resources and markets.

Outcomes

Outcome 1

By the end of 2022, 4000 rural women and girls are organised and are able to demand their rights and have greater influence in their households and communities

Outcome 2

By the end of 2022, 100 girls to supported to get back to school or learn a skills

Outcome 3

By the end of 2022, 200 rural women have more secure and sustainable access to markets and productive resources leading to increased income

Activities

  • Mobilise and train the networks of women and girls and support them to draw and implement their action plans targeting traditional and religious leaders and coalition of men and boys to demand their rights
  • Mobilise and Train Community Based Anti-Violence Teams on Violence Prevention and Reporting Protocols
  • Mobilise, strengthen and support the advocacy action plans of Champions of change towards addressing violence against women and girls
  • Organise community sensitizations using communication for development tool kit to promote Behavior Change Communication
  • Hold joint actions with CSOs platforms and networks to advocate the rights of women and girls using international key moments such as the International Day of Rural Women and the International Women Day
  • Support girls to create safe spaces for their access information on their sexual and reproductive health rights and services as well as to promote their advocacy campaigns targeting duty bearers
  • Support the skills development of out of school girls to reduce their vulnerability of child marriage
  • Support 100 girl to re-enroll in school under the school re-entry policy of the Ghana Education Service
  • Establish and register a cassava processing centre at Nakpayili community with modern machinery to promote the cassava value chain and increase the competitiveness of the women processors on the Ghanaian market
  • Establish and register a sheabutter processing center at Kumbunyili community to promote the processing and marketing of sheabutter
