Description

She Leads is a consortium that brings together child rights organisations, feminist/women’s rights organizations, and GYW-led groups in a joint effort to increase the sustained influence of girls and young women (GYW) on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions.

Objective

The She Leads project objective is to increase the sustained influence of girls and young women on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions.

Outcome 1

Collective Girls and Young Women action and activism in a gender-responsive civil society

Outcome 2

Increased acceptance of positive social gender norms

Outcome 3

Political institutions at all levels enable full and meaningful participation of Girls and Young Women in decision-making.

Activities

  • Mobilised and built the capacity of girls and young women organisations to lead the movement building of other girls and young women in the region
  • Trained the girls to time diaries tool and supported them to generate evidence on girls and unpaid care work and used the evidence to engage traditional leaders and municipal assemblies on the issues affecting girls and young women
  • Mobilised and built the capacity of champions of change and supported them to undertake their own advocacy plans
  • Commemorated international events to highlight the issues affecting girls and promote the social movement of girls and young women
  • Sensitized state and non-state institutions on the meaningful inclusion of girls and young women in decision making
  • Supported girls and young women to participate in the planning and budget meetings of district assemblies
