Mariama Mahama is a visionary leader and tireless advocate for technical and vocational education in Ghana. As the current Principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute in Tamale, she is recognized for her unwavering commitment to institutional excellence, inclusive education, and strategic collaboration across the country’s educational landscape.
With decades of experience in educational governance, Mariama has made significant contributions through her service on numerous boards and councils nationwide. Her leadership roles include Board Chair of Songtaba (2024–present), Board Member of Songtaba (2019–2023), Council Member at Gambaga College of Education (2021–2023), and both Board Member (2014–2016) and later Board Chair (2017–2020) of Tamale Community Nurses Training College (CNTC).
She is a two-term Council Member of Tamale Technical University (2020–present), and has also served as Board Member of Evangelical Church of Ghana Basic School, Tamale (2012–2019), Board Member at Walewale Senior High Technical School (2017–present), and Board Member of Childreach International (2012–2014).
Mariama is highly respected as a national figure in the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) sector. She currently serves as the Regional Chairperson for the Conference of Principals of Technical Institutes (CoPTI) and has been recognized as a TVET Ambassador by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET). Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades, including the National Honours and Awards 2024 and Presidential Honours for Distinguished Services, First Runner-Up at the National Best Teacher Award (Educational Leadership, 2023), as well as the Regional Best Teacher award (Colleges of Education category) and the Camped Leadership Award.
Throughout her tenure at Dabokpa Technical Institute, Mariama Mahama has championed innovation, mentorship, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Her influence extends well beyond the classroom as she actively shapes policy, empowers educators, and advocates for the transformative power of TVET across Ghana. Her legacy is one of impact, inspiration, and unwavering dedication to educational advancement.
